Riehl to Present Poetry and Grief Workshop for the 5th Annual Integrating Spirit & Caregiving Conference
I’m here in Boulder, Colorado for three days (May 18-20) to present a workshop at the 5th Annual Integrating Spirit & Caregiving Conference with an emphasis on Integral and Transpersonal Approaches to End of Life and Elder Care. The conference is presented
by Naropa University Extended Studies and the Center for Contemplative End of Life and Elder Care.
My little piece of the conference is a workshop on poetry and griefwork. What’s the bigger picture of what we are doing here?
The Integrating Spirit and Caregiving conference brings together leading visionaries and teachers of contemplative and spirit-centered approaches to the full spectrum of end of life and elder care, from pain and symptom control to spiritual care and bereavement counseling. This year’s conference offers a special focus on integral and transpersonal approaches to catastrophic illness and end of life and elder care with keynote presentations by integral care pioneers Joan Halifax, PhD, and Frank Ostaseski.
The conference also offers a particular focus on integral and transpersonal approaches to nursing and medicine with plenary presentations by holistic nursing pioneer Barbara Dossey, PhD, leading palliative care physicians Porter Storey, MD, and James Duffy, MD, and internationally acclaimed critical care expert Mitchell Levy, MD.
I’m really happy to be here and expect to walk away with full heart and mind.
Janet,
I know that your contribution to the conf. will be genuine and of help to caregivers and patients alike. Have you found some unusual poetry(aside from your own!) that is of special meaning? Please share in future.
