When Victor Volkman hosted me on Authors Airwaves, he said that he was proud to feature a special podcast “Sightlines: A Family Love Story in Poetry and Music” by Janet Riehl. Her book "Sightlines: A Poet’s Diary" is Janet’s family love story, a remembrance narrated in story poems that traverses the boundaries of life and death. These 90 poems have been amplified in the audio book with 40 poems, stories, and banter during the music session in her father's parlor.

If you missed it the first time, here it is again. If you've become a Riehlife Villager and downloaded the poetry and music recording then you've heard this.

Three years ago I was one of Yvonne Perry's Writers in the Sky podcasts shortly after the publication of "Sightlines: A Poet's Diary." Today Yvonne and I chat again on her podcast about "Sightlines: A Family Love Story in Poetry and Music" showing the miles we've traveled since then.

This was recorded in the hospital shortly after the birth of her newest grandson, Liam. Scott Kidd, the sound engineer, for our audio book.

Susan says:
It seems to me that if we don't write from our hearts and say the things we believe most deeply, there's no point in writing. As psychologist and author Mary Pipher says, "Good stories can save us." We need the lifelines of heartfelt, thoughtful and passionate writing now more than ever!

And in "The San Luis Valley: Sand Dunes and Sandhill Cranes" Susan says:
"What we do best comes not from our heads but our hearts, from an ineffable impulse that resists logic and definitions and calculation: love. Love is what connects us to the rest of the living world, the divine urging from within that guides our best steps in the dance of life."
