In my intro to this poem, I note that the first African-American comic book hero didn't appear until 1971. And the poem mentions "Archie." Well, we now have an openly gay character from the creators of "Archie:"

The poem actually took me to Sparta. I could feel the air. I have walked those streets. Maurice captured the time and place.
