Another problem is that these bodies are not doing even half of what they could in advocating to the masses for stopping damaging practices. They try to be remedial instead of preventive. In the neighborhood where I live, every second person is used to setting fire to heaps of garbage and no preventive measure is in sight by any environmental/governmental body. But then, there is no effective monitoring and ultimatley no seriousness on behalf of the bodies whose funding is assured. Perhaps media can play a role in pressuring the slackness out of the concerned bodies. In this way, the motivation to study it is maintained, but the results are highly biased. The smartest people working on it have a professional interest in maintaining that bias. The results they produce are being used by governments the world over to increase the oppression of private citizens. The results that climate change awareness produces would be far better if there were no government involvement.
